CADALIAN DAIRY FARMERS COOPERATIVE (CADAFCO) ventures in to Animal Feed Production Project
The CADALIAN DAIRY FARMERS COOPERATIVE (CADAFCO), a primary cooperative registered under the Cooperative Development Authority is a dairy cooperative whose primary business endeavor is to produce milk and deliver it to the Davao Milk Processing Plant. Its operation started in 2003.
In 2016, the cooperative received financial assistance from the DOST – Reg. XI in the form of a mini feed mill equipment for Animal Feed Production Project for dairy cattle in the amount of FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY TWO THOUSAND PESOS (P482,000.00) in which the cooperative shared 40% of the amount as counterpart/equity. The project was launched in November 15, 2016.
Initial production of the cooperative were served to the members of the cooperative only but at present they are already supplying feeds to other cooperatives like the Megcawayan Dairy Farmers Association (MEDAS), Biao-Joaquin Dairy Farmers Cooperative (BJDAFCO) and the National Dairy Authority – Southern Mindanao Department (NDA-SMD).
The feed production project has a capacity of 250 kilos per hour and the coop sells the feeds at Php 20.25 per kilo with a crude protein of 17%. The DOST assistance does not end at providing the coop financial support but they also provide free testing of the feed analysis produced.
The feed formulation was provided by the NDA.
